At the Joint Security Area of Panmunjeom on the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) at the 38th Parallel. Note the red badges of the Kim family worn as required at all times. No doubt there was elaboration on the biggest myth that the Korean War was started by the South attacking the North. This falsehood serves as the foundation of the DPRK’s suppression of political and human rights. As a result, according to the myth, the Kim family has valiantly faced off an antagonistic world. Whatever doubts that North Koreans may have, the last plank of the Big Lie that even defectors have emotional difficulty letting go is that N Korean dictator Kim Il Sung started the Korean War. The North Koreans dare not admit that the war almost destroyed their government if it were not for the Chinese People’s Liberation Army pushing back the UN/US forces. That fact, much to the chagrin of Chinese war veterans, is purposely ignored by the North Koreans.
